Santander is the lively Spanish city that in located in the heart of Cantabria. Lying between the Basque region, to the east, and the Asturias, to the west, it has always been subject to a tumultuous history, however is now more prominent for maritime activity and tourism.
Tourism in the area is perhaps the most lucrative industry of modern Santander. Being a coastal city, most of the sport in Santander is pivoted around maritime activity. With top half finishes in the last two seasons, they have jumped above footballing giants Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna in the race to the Europe.
